The peptide was isolated from the ligand binding region of the human gamma-interferon (IFN-gamma) receptor, exhibits antagonistic properties towards human IFN-gamma. This peptide was found to inhibit the expression of HLR/DR antigen on Colo 205 cells that were induced by human IFN-gamma. The IC50 value of this peptide was determined to be approximately 35 µM. Moreover, the peptide demonstrated specific binding to immobilized recombinant human IFN-gamma. By substituting tyrosine residue at position 121 of the peptide, the process of quantification and conjugation of the peptide was significantly simplified.
